Borneo Economic Community Successfully Holds Borneo Economic Forum 2026
7 October 2026

The Borneo Economic Community (BEC) successfully held the Borneo Economic Forum (BEF) 2026 in Kuching, Sarawak, on 7–8 October 2026, convening regional leaders, business representatives, investors, and institutional partners to advance economic cooperation across Borneo.
The Forum provided a platform for stakeholders from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, and Malaysia to discuss opportunities to strengthen cross-border connectivity, expand trade and investment, encourage industrial cooperation, and unlock the island’s wider economic potential.
Key milestones during the Forum included the signing of a Statement of Cooperation by 17 organisations and companies, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between BEC and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), and business-to-business (B2B) matching activities designed to foster connections and explore potential commercial partnerships.
These activities reflected BEC’s commitment to moving beyond dialogue and towards practical cooperation by connecting businesses, institutions, and regional stakeholders around shared economic priorities.
The Forum also marked the next stage in BEC’s development, with Nusantara, Indonesia, announced as the host of the 3rd Borneo Economic Forum in 2027.
BEC extends its appreciation to the participating stakeholders, partners, and supporting organisations whose contributions helped make BEF 2026 possible. The Community looks forward to building on the Forum’s momentum and continuing to advance a more connected, competitive, and inclusive economy across Borneo.
